A change of carer is when someone close to you needs support from another carer.
How do you deal with this and how do your responsibilities change?

Can't continue to care for your mum? Then you need to arrange a replacement main carer. This situation can also be reversed. Someone else has been looking after your mum until now. Now you want to take over full-time. Then she will need to do the following:

What is the reason for the change of carer - do you only need a temporary change, i.e. you remain the so-called main carer? Or will you need to make the change permanent?

You will need to notify the change of carer - this involves completing a "Notification of Carer" form preferably within 8 days of the change and submitting it to the Jobcentre Plus office.

Check if you are entitled to social security and health insurance - you are entitled to social security and health insurance if your mother is approved for tier II, III or IV.

The care counts towards the required years of insurance for the pension - after you have finished caring for your mother, make sure to ask the Labour Office for a certificate of the time of care and forward it to the Czech Social Security Administration.

Even if you become the main carer, you can arrange social services for the time you are at work or school, for example. They will be with your mother while you are away.

The applicant for this change is your mother. Therefore, consider sensitively her ability to make decisions on official matters. If you recognize that she has even a mild cognitive deficit, use various forms of support and guardianship.
